FR-treated vs inherently FR curtains
FR-Treated Fabric
A flame-retardant finish is applied to the fabric after weaving. Because the base fabric is chosen first and treated afterwards, this route keeps the widest choice of appearance, texture and colour.
The performance comes from the finish rather than the fibre, so care method and expected service life should be confirmed for the exact fabric and intended use.
Inherently FR (IFR) Fabric
The flame-retardant property is built into the polyester fibre itself rather than applied as a surface finish after weaving, so it does not wash out.

Under flame exposure, IFR fabric shrinks away from the heat source and forms a char area that limits flame spread; once the ignition source is removed, a correctly specified IFR fabric is designed to self-extinguish. Flaming-droplet behaviour should be assessed from the test report for the exact construction, rather than assumed from the IFR designation alone. Testing is arranged per order against the standard required by the destination market — for example NFPA 701 or CAN/ULC-S109.

Do all Dairui curtains pass NFPA 701?
No. Test evidence applies only to the specific material identified in the report. We confirm the selected fabric and project requirement before order approval.
Can you supply both FR-treated and inherently FR curtains?
Both routes can be discussed, subject to fabric availability, appearance requirements and the test documentation needed for the project.
What should I provide for an FR curtain quotation?
Share the project market, application, required test method, fabric or appearance direction, finished dimensions, heading style and documentation requirement.
Are flame retardant, fire retardant, fire resistant and fireproof curtains the same thing?
In curtain sourcing, flame retardant, fire retardant, flame resistant and fire resistant are generally used to describe the same requirement. Fireproof is not an accurate term for textiles: no curtain is proof against fire, and what is actually specified is flame-retardant performance measured against a named test standard such as NFPA 701 or CAN/ULC-S109. For project approval, confirm the applicable fabric and its test documentation rather than relying on the wording used in the enquiry.
Are these industrial fire or smoke barrier curtains?
