A coated or composite blackout panel blocks 100% of light; woven black yarn blocks 90–95%. A fully dark room also needs the right installation: ceiling or wall-to-wall mounting, with overlap or return panels at the edges. Light-blocking percentage is a fabric spec, not a guarantee for the whole window.

Room darkening fabrics block 70–90% of light, usually through fabric weight alone. Blackout needs a coating, a composite construction or woven black yarn: coated and composite reach 100%, woven black yarn 90–95%. We make both.

Side leakage comes from installation, not fabric. Mount at the ceiling or wall-to-wall, add return panels or overlap, or use a track with ripplefold or S-fold headings for continuous coverage.

Both work. Coating is applied to the back of the face fabric: cost-efficient, slightly stiffer. Composite bonds two fabrics with TPU film or coating between: softer drape, higher cost, and face and back can be specified separately.

Our blackout runs 180–400 gsm. DTC retail usually sits at 200–260 gsm, and 240 gsm coated polyester or composite linen-look is a common choice for soft 100% blackout. Heavier weights add thermal insulation and sound dampening but raise shipping volume.

Trial orders of 50–100 panels are available on stock fabrics, subject to discussion. Custom-woven fabrics start from 800–1,000 meters.

Around 30 days from deposit, depending on order volume, customization, material readiness and the production schedule. Standard samples take 3–5 working days; special sample types are quoted separately.

Every order goes through a two-stage inspection: each piece is checked, then AQL sampling covers stitching, dimensions, blackout performance and packaging. SGS or Intertek inspection can be arranged. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 materials are available for selected projects, and FR constructions can be tested to NFPA 701 or CAN/ULC-S109, adding about 10 days. Compare construction, the required light-blocking result, the approved sample and finished-size tolerance, not just a blackout label.
