What is the difference between woven black yarn velvet and coated velvet?
Woven black yarn velvet builds light blocking into the backing weave with no coating: 90–95% blackout and a cleaner hand. Coated velvet adds a backing layer after weaving for 100% blackout, at a higher cost per panel.
Does blackout backing make velvet curtains stiff?
No. Coated and composite backings keep the velvet drape, the backing is not visible from the face side, and finished panels hang and fold cleanly on a track or rod.
Can you do custom GSM for velvet curtains?
Yes. Woven black yarn, coated and composite velvet are made to your target GSM, up to 400 GSM total. Single-layer velvet runs 180–240 GSM.
What is the MOQ for private label velvet curtains?
Trial orders of 50–100 panels are available on stock fabrics, subject to discussion. Custom-woven or custom-backed constructions start from 800–1,000 meters of fabric.
Do velvet curtains come with blackout backing as standard?
No. Single-layer velvet has no backing and blocks 60–70% of light. Woven black yarn, coated and composite constructions are specified at order; tell us the blackout level you need.
What heading styles suit velvet curtains?
Grommet, rod pocket, pinch pleat (single, double or triple), back tab and Ripplefold are all standard. Pinch pleat and grommet suit DTC retail; Ripplefold suits hotels and high-end residential projects.
Can you supply velvet curtains for hotel projects?
Yes. Coated and composite velvet reach 100% blackout for guest rooms, usually at 280–400 GSM total weight. FR treatment is available, tested to NFPA 701, EN 13773 or other project requirements.
What is the lead time for a container of velvet curtains?
Bulk production is around 30 days from deposit; a full 40HQ order typically runs 35–45 days. Samples take 3–5 working days.
