Custom Labeling Curtain Systems: What DTC Brands Need to Know

When a DTC brand or retail buyer sources curtains from a factory, the product that arrives in their warehouse rarely looks like their brand. No logo. No hangtag. No packaging that matches their Shopify store. That gap between “factory output” and “shelf-ready product” is exactly what a custom labeling system closes.

At Dairui, we’ve built custom labeling programs for independent home brands in Canada, Australia, and the US. The details below reflect what actually goes into a working private label curtain setup — not a generic overview.

What Does a Custom Labeling Curtain System Actually Include?

A labeling system is not just a sticker on a bag. For curtains specifically, it covers six components — and buyers who skip any one of them usually find out at the worst time (after the container arrives).

Custom branded curtain packaging with hangtag and poly bag for DTC private label brand
  • Hangtag: Brand name, logo, care instructions, fabric content, country of origin. Format: die-cut card stock, ribbon-tied or pin-attached.
  • Poly bag or packaging: Branded header card insert, zipper bag, or folded sleeve. Dimensions matched to panel size.
  • Barcode / SKU label: UPC, EAN, or internal SKU. Placed on packaging back panel or inner label per retailer spec.
  • Inner label (sewn-in): Fabric content, care symbols (ISO 3758), country of origin — legally required in most export markets.
  • Outer carton labeling: PO number, quantity, destination, barcode — for warehouse receiving and EDI compliance.
  • Compliance marks: OEKO-TEX batch number if applicable, FR certification reference if ordered with flame-retardant treatment.

How the Process Works at Dairui

Most first-time private label buyers assume labeling is the easy part. In practice, it’s the part that causes the most last-minute delays — because artwork approvals, barcode registration, and packaging proofs all happen in parallel with production, not after.

Dairui factory finishing and packaging process for private label curtain orders
  1. Artwork submission: Send logo files (AI, EPS, or high-res PNG) and brand color codes (Pantone or CMYK). Digital proof ready in 3–5 working days.
  2. Packaging material confirmation: Card stock weight, bag material (BOPP / matte / gloss), ribbon color. We source to spec or work from your samples.
  3. Barcode and SKU assignment: You provide your barcodes, or we advise on GS1 registration for first-time setups.
  4. Pre-production sample: One physical packaged sample sent before bulk production begins. Most buyers approve on first review.
  5. Bulk production and packing: Labels applied in-house. Panels folded, inserted into packaging, and labeled per your packing list.
  6. QC before shipment: Label placement, barcode scan, care label position, and packaging integrity verified before container loading.

MOQ and Lead Time for Custom Labeling Orders

Custom labeling does not require large order volumes. Our standard MOQ for private label curtain orders is 200 panels per style and color. For first-time buyers, trial orders from 50–100 panels are available subject to discussion.

Lead time adds approximately 3–5 working days to standard bulk production time (30+ days from deposit) to account for packaging procurement and labeling. If your artwork is approved before production starts, labeling runs in parallel — no additional delay.

The one timeline risk buyers underestimate: barcode registration. If you don’t already have a GS1 prefix, the application process can take 1–2 weeks depending on your country. Start this before you confirm your order, not after.

What Packaging Formats Do We Support?

Packaging format depends on your retail channel and end customer. The most common configurations we produce:

A Real Example: How a Canadian DTC Brand Set Up Their Labeling System

A home goods brand selling through their own Shopify store approached us after struggling with their previous supplier — panels arrived in plain poly bags with no branding, which their customers noticed and complained about in reviews.

Their setup with us: linen-blend sheer curtains, 110 GSM, 4 colorways. Die-cut kraft hangtag with logo and care instructions. Matte white zipper bag with brand name printed in one color. Sewn-in fabric care label with EN ISO 3758 symbols. EAN barcode on back panel. Cartons marked with their internal PO reference.

First order: 200 panels across 4 colorways. Artwork approved in one round. Physical sample approved without changes. Lead time from deposit to FOB: 38 days including packaging procurement. Reordered within 4 months — same spec, scaled to 600 panels.

What This Means For Your Sourcing

Custom labeling is not a premium add-on — it’s a standard part of any private label curtain program. The difference between factories is how early they involve you in the packaging process and how well they can execute to your spec at 200-panel quantities.

If you’re setting up a curtain private label for the first time, the fastest path is to start with your artwork files and a clear idea of your retail channel. Everything else — packaging format, materials, barcode setup — can be decided from there.

FAQ

Can you produce hangtags and packaging in-house?

We source packaging materials from local suppliers in Shaoxing and coordinate production in-house. Hangtags, poly bags, and inner labels are all handled within our facility. For specialty packaging (rigid gift boxes, custom-shaped hangtags), we work with trusted third-party packaging suppliers and include their lead time in your overall timeline.

Do you support Amazon FBA labeling requirements?

Yes. We can apply FNSKU labels, poly bag with suffocation warning, and pack cartons to Amazon inbound shipment specifications. Provide your ASIN, marketplace, and carton dimension requirements before production confirmation.

What’s the minimum order for custom labeling?

Standard MOQ is 200 panels per style and color. Trial orders from 50–100 panels are available for first-time buyers subject to discussion. Custom packaging materials typically have their own minimum print run — confirmed during inquiry based on format chosen.

Can I supply my own packaging materials?

Yes. Some buyers ship us their own branded bags and hangtags for us to use in packing. Allow extra lead time for your materials to arrive at our facility before production completes. We confirm quantities needed based on your order size.

Do you include care labels as standard?

Yes. All export orders include a sewn-in care label with ISO 3758 care symbols and country of origin as standard. Label content is confirmed with you before production. Additional regulatory labels (e.g., California Prop 65 warning for US shipments) can be added on request.
